How to Use
Dosage
For adults, the usual dose is 20-80 mg once daily. For children aged 9 and older, the starting dose is usually 20 mg per day. Your doctor will tell you the exact dose you need.
Method
Take the tablet whole with water. You can take it with or without food, at any time of day.
Important
The maximum daily dose for adults and children is 80 mg.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Sleep problems
- •Headache
- •Stomach discomfort
- •Abdominal pain
- •Nausea
- •Abnormal blood test results for liver and muscle enzymes
RARE
- •Unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness (could be a sign of severe muscle damage)
- •Unusual tiredness, fever, yellow skin or eyes, dark urine (could be a sign of liver inflammation)
- •Skin reactions like rash, hives, redness, itching, swelling of the face, eyelids, or lips
- •Swollen skin, breathing difficulties, dizziness (could be a sign of a severe allergic reaction)
- •Bleeding or bruising more easily than usual (could be a sign of low blood platelets)
- •Red or purple skin lesions (sign of blood vessel inflammation)
- •Red, patchy rash on the face, sometimes with tiredness, fever, nausea, loss of appetite (like an SLE-related reaction)
- •Severe upper abdominal pain (symptom of pancreatitis)
- •Tingling or numbness in hands or feet, disturbed or reduced sensation
- •Impotence
- •Persistent muscle weakness
- •Breathing problems, including persistent cough and/or shortness of breath or fever
- •Diarrhea
- •Myasthenia gravis (a disease causing general muscle weakness, sometimes affecting breathing muscles)
- •Ocular myasthenia (a disease causing eye muscle weakness)
- •Sleep disorders, such as insomnia and nightmares
- •Memory loss
- •Sexual dysfunction
- •Depression
- •Diabetes (more likely if you have high blood sugar and fat levels, are overweight, and have high blood pressure)
- •Tendon inflammation, swelling, and irritation
Important Warnings
- Do not take if you are allergic to fluvastatin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
- Do not take if you have liver disease or unexplained high liver enzyme levels.
- Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you plan to become pregnant.
- If you are taking fusidic acid for a bacterial infection, you must stop taking Lescol Depot temporarily. Ask your doctor when you can restart.
- Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, thyroid disease, or a history of muscle problems (in yourself or your family), or if you have had muscle problems with other cholesterol medicines.

- Tell your doctor if you regularly drink large amounts of alcohol.
- Contact your doctor immediately if you develop unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, unusual tiredness, fever, yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, or signs of severe allergic reaction like rash, swelling, or breathing difficulties.
