How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 10 mg once a day. Your doctor may increase it to 20 mg a day if needed.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with some water, preferably in the morning at least 15 minutes before breakfast. The score line is only to help you swallow, not to divide into equal doses.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 20 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Palpitations (feeling your heart beat fast or unevenly)
  • Sudden flushing of the face, neck, or chest
  • Swollen ankles
RARE
  • Chest pain (angina pectoris, a squeezing feeling in the chest because the heart doesn't get enough blood)
  • Allergic reactions (symptoms like itching, rash, or hives)
  • Fainting
  • Dizziness
  • Low blood pressure
  • Heartburn
  • Nausea
  • Stomach pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Frequent urination or increased urge to urinate
  • Weakness and tiredness
  • Drowsiness
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Other chest pain
  • Swollen gums
  • Changes in liver function (seen in blood tests)
  • Cloudy fluid (in peritoneal dialysis)
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat which may cause breathing or swallowing difficulties

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Lercamed if you are allergic to lercanidipine hydrochloride or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take Lercamed if you have certain severe heart conditions, like a narrowed heart artery, untreated heart failure, unstable chest pain, or if you've had a heart attack recently (within the last month).
  • Do not take Lercamed if you have severe liver or kidney problems, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Do not take Lercamed if you are taking certain medicines that affect your liver, such as some antifungal drugs (like ketoconazole), macrolide antibiotics (like erythromycin), or antiviral drugs (like ritonavir).
  • Do not take Lercamed if you are taking ciclosporin (a medicine used after organ transplants).

  • Do not take Lercamed with grapefruit or grapefruit juice.
  • Lercamed is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Always ask your doctor for advice if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness, weakness, or drowsiness. If you experience these, do not drive or use machines.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking Lercamed if you have heart, liver, or kidney problems.
