How to Use

Dosage

The typical dosage is usually between 8 mg and 24 mg once daily, depending on the type of cancer and individual factors.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water, with or without food. Do not open the capsules. Take the medicine at approximately the same time each day.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 24 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Loss of appetite or weight loss
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, or digestive problems
  • Severe tiredness or weakness
  • Hoarseness
  • Swelling in the legs
  • Rash
  • Dry, sore, or inflamed mouth, or altered taste
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Dizziness
  • Hair loss
  • Bleeding, such as nosebleeds, blood in urine, bruises, or gum bleeding
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Headache or back pain
  • Redness, tenderness, and swelling of skin on hands and feet (hand-foot syndrome)
  • Underactive or overactive thyroid (e.g., tiredness, weight changes, chills, dry skin, or rapid heart rate)
  • Low blood platelet count (may cause bruising and poor wound healing)
  • High protein levels in urine or urinary tract infections
  • Low blood potassium, calcium, or magnesium levels
  • Changes in liver or kidney blood test results
  • Dehydration
  • Gallbladder inflammation
  • Feeling unwell
RARE
  • Stroke or mini-stroke
  • Chest pain, shortness of breath, fast or irregular heartbeat, cough, blue lips or fingers, or severe tiredness (signs of heart problems, blood clots in lungs, or air leaking from a lung)
  • Severe stomach pain (due to a hole in the bowel or a fistula, which is an abnormal connection between body parts)
  • Black, tarry, or bloody stools, or coughing up blood (signs of internal bleeding)
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), tiredness, confusion, or poor concentration (signs of liver problems)
  • Pain in the mouth, teeth, or jaw, swelling or sores inside the mouth, numbness or heavy feeling in the jaw, or loose teeth (signs of jaw bone damage)
  • Nausea, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, muscle cramps, seizures, cloudy urine, or tiredness (signs of tumor lysis syndrome, TLS)
  • Painful infection or irritation near the anus
  • Spleen infarction (severe pain in the upper left abdomen, possibly with fever, chills, nausea, and vomiting)
  • Pancreatitis
  • Problems with wound healing
  • Colon inflammation (colitis)
  • Decreased hormone production by adrenal glands
  • Hole (perforation) in the stomach or intestine

Important Warnings

  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had heart problems, a stroke, or kidney or liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had recent surgery or are planning a major surgery, as this medicine can affect wound healing.
  • Tell your doctor if you have pain in your mouth, teeth, or jaw, as this medicine can cause jaw bone damage.
  • If you have symptoms of tumor lysis syndrome (TLS), such as nausea, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, or seizures, seek immediate medical attention.
