How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much to take.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water. Do not break, open, or chew them. You can take them with or without food, at the same time each day, as your doctor instructed.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose based on your condition and blood tests.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low red blood cells (anemia), making you feel tired and weak.
  • Rash, itching, hives, dry skin, skin changes (like darkening, redness, cracking, or peeling), bruising, or swelling under the skin.
  • Muscle cramps, weakness, or pain; pain in bones, joints, back, arms, or legs.
  • Swelling in your body, including arms, legs, and joints.
  • Feeling very tired, weak, feverish, having chills, muscle aches, headache, earache, or cough.
  • Numbness, tingling, burning, or pain in your hands or feet; dizziness, shaking (tremor), balance or movement problems, nerve pain, or unusual feelings when touched.
  • Less appetite, changes in taste, weight loss, constipation, diarrhea, feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting), stomach pain, heartburn, bleeding from gums/stomach/intestines, sore/dry mouth, dehydration.
  • Kidney problems (kidneys not working well), changes in how much you pee, not being able to hold your pee, or blood in your pee.
  • Low or high blood pressure, fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat, chest pain (could be a heart attack), leg pain (could be a blood clot), or shortness of breath (could be a blood clot in the lungs or heart failure).
  • Blurry vision, cloudy eyes (cataracts), or worsening eyesight.
  • Any type of infection, including sinus, lung, or upper breathing tract infections.
  • Headache, nosebleeds, depression, mood changes, sleep problems, general feeling of being unwell, increased sweating, night sweats, thirst, confusion, toothache, falls (leading to injuries), or problems with erections, hearing, or ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Changes in blood tests (e.g., liver function, protein levels, blood sugar, potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphate, magnesium, uric acid), or underactive thyroid.
  • Abnormal liver test results, liver damage.
RARE
  • Bleeding inside the skull (brain).
  • Problems with blood circulation.
  • Losing interest in sex.
  • Peeing a lot, along with bone pain and weakness (signs of a kidney issue called Fanconi syndrome).
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes, pale poop, dark pee, itchy skin, rash, stomach pain, or swollen belly (signs of liver damage or failure).
  • Stomach pain, swelling, or diarrhea (signs of inflammation in the colon or appendix).
  • Damage to kidney cells.
  • Skin changing color or being very sensitive to sunlight.
  • Tumor lysis syndrome (problems from cancer cells breaking down, affecting kidneys or heart, or causing seizures).
  • High blood pressure in the blood vessels going to your lungs (pulmonary hypertension).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, as it can harm the unborn baby.
  • Stop taking the medicine and get urgent medical help if you experience a serious allergic reaction, such as hives, rash, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe skin reactions (like widespread rash with skin peeling).
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have signs of infection (fever, chills, sore throat, cough), unusual bleeding or bruising, chest pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath.
  • Seek medical attention immediately if you notice changes in vision, speech problems, weakness on one side of your body, balance issues, numbness, memory loss, or confusion, as these could be signs of a serious brain condition called PML.
  • Inform your doctor if you experience shortness of breath, tiredness, dizziness, chest pain, fast heartbeat, or swelling in your legs or ankles, as these can be symptoms of a serious condition called pulmonary hypertension.
