How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the exact dose and schedule.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water, with or without food, at the same time each day on your scheduled treatment days. Do not break, open, or chew the capsules.

Important

The maximum daily dose is determined by your doctor based on your treatment plan and cycle.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia), causing tiredness and weakness.
  • Rashes, itching.
  • Muscle cramps, muscle weakness, muscle and body aches, bone pain, joint pain, back pain, limb pain.
  • General swelling, including swelling in arms and legs.
  • Weakness, fatigue.
  • Fever and flu-like symptoms, including fever, muscle aches, headache, ear pain, cough, and chills.
  • Numbness, tingling or burning sensation in the skin, pain in hands or feet, dizziness, tremor.
  • Decreased appetite, changes in taste.
  • Increased pain, tumor size increase or increased redness around the tumor.
  • Weight loss.
  • Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn.
  • Low levels of potassium, calcium, and/or sodium in the blood.
  • Underactive thyroid.
  • Calf pain (possible sign of a blood clot), chest pain or shortness of breath (possible sign of blood clots in the lungs).
  • All types of infections, including sinus infections, lung infections, and upper respiratory tract infections.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Clouding of the eye (cataract).
  • Kidney problems (kidneys not working properly or unable to maintain normal function).
  • Abnormal liver function test results.
  • Increased liver function test results.
  • Changes in blood protein that can cause artery swelling (vasculitis).
  • High blood sugar (diabetes).
  • Low blood sugar.
  • Headache.
  • Nosebleeds.
  • Dry skin.
  • Depression, mood changes, sleep difficulties.
  • Cough.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • General feeling of discomfort or illness.
  • Sore inflamed mouth, dry mouth.
  • Dehydration.
  • Breakdown of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia).
  • Certain types of skin tumors.
  • Bleeding from gums, stomach or intestines.
  • High blood pressure, slow, fast or irregular heartbeat.
  • Increased amount of a substance released from normal and abnormal breakdown of red blood cells.
  • Increased level of a protein indicating inflammation in the body.
  • Darkening of the skin, skin discoloration due to bleeding under the skin, usually bruising, swelling of skin filled with blood, bruise.
  • Increased blood uric acid level.
  • Skin symptoms, redness, cracking, flaking or peeling, hives.
  • Increased sweating, night sweats.
  • Difficulty swallowing, sore throat, difficulty producing sound or voice changes.
  • Runny nose.
  • Significantly higher or lower urine output than usual, or urinary incontinence.
  • Blood in urine.
  • Shortness of breath, especially when lying down (may be a symptom of heart failure).
  • Erectile dysfunction.
  • Stroke, fainting, vertigo (inner ear disorder causing a sensation of spinning surroundings), temporary loss of consciousness.
  • Chest pain radiating to arms, neck, jaw, back or stomach, sweating and shortness of breath, nausea or vomiting, which can be symptoms of a heart attack.
  • Neck pain, chest pain.
  • Joint swelling.
  • Slowing or blockage of bile flow from the liver.
  • Low blood phosphate or magnesium levels.
  • Speech difficulties.
  • Liver damage.
  • Balance disorders, difficulty moving.
  • Deafness, ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Nerve pain, unpleasant, abnormal sensations, especially to touch.
  • Excess iron in the body.
  • Thirst.
  • Confusion.
  • Toothache.
  • Falls, which can cause injuries.
RARE
  • Bleeding inside the skull.
  • Circulation problems.
  • Vision impairment.
  • Loss of sex drive (libido).
  • Excretion of a large amount of urine, accompanied by bone pain and weakness, which may be symptoms of kidney disorder (Fanconi syndrome).
  • Yellow pigmentation of skin, mucous membranes or eyes (jaundice), pale stools, dark urine, skin itching, rash, abdominal pain or swelling – these may be symptoms of liver damage (liver failure).
  • Abdominal pain, swelling or diarrhea, which may be symptoms of large intestine inflammation (colitis or appendicitis).
  • Kidney cell damage (renal tubular necrosis).
  • Skin discoloration, sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Tumor lysis syndrome – metabolic complications that can occur during cancer treatment and sometimes without treatment. Products from dying cancer cells cause complications, including changes in blood chemistry (e.g., increased potassium, phosphate, and uric acid, and decreased calcium), which can lead to kidney and heart rhythm problems, seizures, and sometimes death.
  • Increased blood pressure in the blood vessels carrying blood to the lungs (pulmonary hypertension).
  • Sudden or mild but worsening upper abdominal and/or back pain that lasts for several days, possibly with nausea, vomiting, fever, and a fast heart rate. These symptoms may be caused by pancreatitis.
  • Wheezing, shortness of breath or dry cough, which may be symptoms of lung tissue inflammation.
  • Muscle breakdown (muscle pain, weakness or swelling), which can cause kidney problems (rhabdomyolysis), has been observed in rare cases, some of which occurred when Lenalidomide Sandoz was given with a statin (a medicine to lower blood cholesterol).
  • Skin disease caused by inflammation of small blood vessels, associated with joint pain and fever (leukocytoclastic vasculitis).
  • Rupture of the stomach or intestinal wall. This can lead to a very serious infection. Tell your doctor if you experience severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea, vomiting, bloody stools or changes in bowel habits.
  • Viral infections, including shingles (a viral infection causing a painful blistering rash) and reactivation of hepatitis B infection (which can cause yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes, dark brown urine, right-sided abdominal pain, fever, nausea, or vomiting).
  • Rejection of solid organ transplant (such as kidney, heart).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or if you could become pregnant and are not using effective contraception. This medicine can harm an unborn baby.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to lenalidomide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had blood clots, an infection (like cough or fever), a viral infection (Hepatitis B, shingles, HIV), kidney problems, a heart attack, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you get a severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling of face/mouth/eyes, breathing issues), or a severe skin reaction (widespread rash, red skin, high fever).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience blurred vision, speech issues, weakness, memory loss, confusion, or changes in balance, as these could be signs of a serious brain condition (PML).
