How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much Lenalidomide ratiopharm to take, as the dose is specific to your condition and treatment plan.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water. Do not break, open, or chew them. You can take them with or without food, at the same time each day on scheduled days.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose as part of your individual treatment cycle.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia), which can cause tiredness and weakness.
  • Rashes, itching.
  • Muscle cramps, muscle weakness, muscle aches and pains, bone pain, joint pain, back pain, limb pain.
  • General swelling, including swelling of arms and legs.
  • Weakness, fatigue.
  • Fever and flu-like symptoms, including fever, muscle aches, headache, earache, cough, and chills.
  • Numbness, tingling or burning sensation on the skin, pain in hands or feet, dizziness, tremor.
  • Decreased appetite, altered taste.
  • Increased pain, increased tumor size, or increased redness around the tumor.
  • Weight loss.
  • Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, heartburn.
  • Low blood potassium, calcium, and/or sodium levels.
  • Underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism).
  • Leg pain (possibly a symptom of a blood clot), chest pain, or shortness of breath (possibly a symptom of blood clots in the lungs).
  • All types of infections, including sinus, lung, and upper respiratory tract infections.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Clouding of the eye (cataract).
  • Kidney problems, where kidneys cannot function normally.
  • Abnormal liver function test results.
  • Elevated liver function test results.
  • Changes in blood protein that can cause blood vessel inflammation (vasculitis).
  • High blood sugar levels (diabetes).
  • Low blood sugar levels.
  • Headache.
  • Nosebleed.
  • Dry skin.
  • Depression, mood changes, difficulty sleeping.
  • Cough.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • General discomfort, feeling unwell.
  • Sore and inflamed mouth, dry mouth.
  • Dehydration.
  • Destruction of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia).
  • Certain types of skin tumors.
  • Bleeding from gums, stomach, or intestines.
  • High blood pressure, slow, fast, or irregular heartbeat.
  • Increased levels of substances released during normal and abnormal red blood cell breakdown.
  • Increased level of a protein indicating inflammation in the body.
  • Darkening of the skin, skin discoloration from bleeding under the skin (bruising), skin swelling from extravasation.
  • High levels of uric acid in the blood.
  • Skin symptoms, red skin, cracking, scaling or peeling skin, hives.
  • Increased sweating, night sweats.
  • Difficulty swallowing, sore throat, speech problems or voice changes.
  • Runny nose.
  • Significantly more or less urine than usual, or inability to control urination.
  • Blood in urine.
  • Shortness of breath, especially when lying down (may be a sign of heart failure).
  • Erectile dysfunction.
  • Stroke, fainting, vertigo (inner ear disorder causing a spinning sensation), temporary loss of consciousness.
  • Chest pain radiating to arms, neck, jaw, back, or stomach, sweating, shortness of breath, nausea or vomiting (possible heart attack symptoms).
  • Muscle weakness, general weakness.
  • Neck pain, chest pain.
  • Chills.
  • Joint swelling.
  • Slowed or blocked bile flow from the liver.
  • Low blood phosphate or magnesium levels.
  • Speech difficulties.
  • Liver damage.
  • Balance problems, difficulty moving.
  • Deafness, ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Nerve pain, unpleasant or abnormal sensations, especially to touch.
  • Excess iron in the body.
  • Thirst.
  • Confusion.
  • Toothache.
  • Falls, which may lead to injuries.
RARE
  • Bleeding inside the skull.
  • Circulation problems.
  • Loss of vision.
  • Loss of sex drive (libido).
  • Large urine output with bone pain and weakness (may be symptoms of Fanconi syndrome, a kidney disorder).
  • Yellow skin, mucous membranes, or eyes (jaundice), pale stools, dark urine, itchy skin, rash, abdominal pain or swelling (may be signs of liver damage or failure).
  • Abdominal pain, swelling, or diarrhea (may be symptoms of colon inflammation or appendicitis).
  • Kidney cell damage (renal tubular necrosis).
  • Skin discoloration, sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Tumor lysis syndrome (a metabolic complication from dying cancer cells that can cause kidney problems, heart rhythm issues, and seizures).
  • High blood pressure in the lung blood vessels (pulmonary hypertension).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, as it can harm the unborn baby.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to lenalidomide or any of its other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had blood clots before, as this medicine increases the risk of new clots.
  • Tell your doctor if you have signs of infection, such as a cough or fever.
  • Inform your doctor if you have or have had a viral infection, especially Hepatitis B, as the medicine can reactivate it.

  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe allergic reactions like hives, rash, swelling of the eyes, mouth, or face, difficulty breathing, or itching.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a severe allergic reaction that starts as a rash and spreads with widespread skin loss (Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis).
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a widespread rash, high body temperature, elevated liver enzymes, abnormal blood counts (eosinophilia), swollen lymph nodes, and symptoms affecting other organs (DRESS or drug hypersensitivity syndrome).
