How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much to take.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water. Do not break, open, or chew them. You can take the capsules with or without food, around the same time each day as directed by your treatment plan.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose as part of your treatment plan.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low red blood cells (anemia), leading to tiredness and weakness
  • Rash, itching
  • Muscle cramps, muscle weakness, muscle pain, bone pain, joint pain, back pain, arm and leg pain
  • General swelling, including in arms and legs
  • Weakness, fatigue
  • Fever and flu-like symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, headache, earache, cough, and chills
  • Numbness, tingling or burning sensation in the skin, pain in hands or feet, dizziness, trembling
  • Decreased appetite, altered taste
  • Increased pain, tumor size, or redness around the tumor
  • Weight loss
  • Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn
  • Low levels of potassium, calcium, and/or sodium in the blood
  • Lower than normal thyroid function
  • Leg pain (which can be a sign of a blood clot), chest pain or shortness of breath (which can be a sign of blood clots in the lungs, called pulmonary embolism)
  • All types of infections, including in the sinuses, lungs, and upper airways
  • Shortness of breath
  • Blurred vision
  • Clouding of the eye (cataract)
  • Kidney problems, including kidneys not working properly or unable to maintain normal function
  • Abnormal liver values
  • Elevated liver values
  • Changes in a blood protein that can cause artery swelling (vasculitis)
  • High blood sugar levels (diabetes)
  • Low blood sugar levels
  • Headache
  • Nosebleeds
  • Dry skin
  • Depression, mood changes, difficulty sleeping
  • Cough
  • Drop in blood pressure
  • General feeling of unwellness, malaise
  • Sore, inflamed mouth, dry mouth
  • Dehydration
  • Breakdown of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia)
  • Certain types of skin tumors
  • Bleeding from gums, stomach, or intestines
  • Increased blood pressure, slow, fast, or irregular heartbeat
  • Increased substance from red blood cell breakdown
  • Increased inflammatory proteins in the body
  • Darker skin, skin discoloration from bleeding under the skin, bruising, skin swelling due to bleeding
  • Increased uric acid in the blood
  • Skin issues, red skin, cracked, flaky or peeling skin, hives
  • Increased sweating, night sweats
  • Difficulty swallowing, sore throat, voice changes
  • Runny nose
  • Urinating much more or less than usual, or inability to control urine
  • Blood in urine
  • Shortness of breath, especially when lying down (may be a sign of heart failure)
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Stroke, fainting, vertigo (feeling like surroundings are spinning), temporary loss of consciousness
  • Chest pain radiating to arms, neck, jaw, back or stomach, sweating, shortness of breath, nausea or vomiting (signs of heart attack)
  • Muscle weakness, lack of energy
  • Neck pain, chest pain
  • Chills
  • Joint swelling
  • Slowed or blocked bile flow from the liver
  • Low blood phosphate or magnesium
  • Difficulty speaking
  • Liver damage
  • Balance problems, difficulty moving
  • Deafness, ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Nerve pain, unusual or unpleasant sensations, especially when touched
  • Too much iron in the body
  • Thirst
  • Confusion
  • Toothache
  • Falls that may lead to injury
RARE
  • Bleeding inside the skull
  • Circulatory problems
  • Loss of vision
  • Loss of sex drive (libido)
  • Urinating a lot with bone pain and weakness (signs of Fanconi syndrome, a kidney disorder)
  • Yellow skin, mucous membranes or eyes (jaundice), pale stools, dark urine, itchy skin, rash, stomach pain or swelling (signs of liver damage or liver failure)
  • Stomach pain, swelling or diarrhea (signs of colon inflammation like colitis or appendicitis)
  • Kidney cell damage (renal tubular necrosis)
  • Skin color changes, sensitivity to sunlight
  • Tumor lysis syndrome (metabolic complications from dying cancer cells, leading to changes in blood chemistry like high potassium, phosphate, uric acid, low calcium, which can cause kidney and heart rhythm issues, seizures, and sometimes death)
  • Increased blood pressure in the blood vessels supplying the lungs (pulmonary hypertension)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or plan to get pregnant, as this medicine can harm an unborn baby.
  • If you can get pregnant, you must use effective birth control during treatment and for a period after.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to lenalidomide or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had blood clots before, as this medicine can increase your risk of getting blood clots.
  • Tell your doctor if you have signs of infection like fever or cough, or a history of viral infections (like Hepatitis B, chickenpox, HIV).

  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a heart attack, blood clots, if you smoke, or have high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience a severe allergic reaction with rash, swelling of the face/mouth, difficulty breathing, or severe skin reactions (like widespread rash, fever, flu-like symptoms, liver problems).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you notice changes in vision (blurred, double), speech, weakness in limbs, balance issues, numbness, or confusion, as these could be signs of a serious brain condition (PML).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience shortness of breath, tiredness, dizziness, chest pain, fast heartbeat, or swelling in your legs or ankles, as these might be signs of a serious heart and lung condition (pulmonary hypertension).
