How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the exact dose, which depends on your condition and treatment plan.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water; do not break, open, or chew them. You can take them with or without food, around the same time each day as per your treatment schedule.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose based on your condition and response to treatment.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased red blood cells, which can cause anemia, leading to tiredness and weakness
  • Rashes, itching
  • Muscle cramps, muscle weakness, muscle aches and pains, bone pain, joint pain, back pain, limb pain
  • General swelling, including swelling of the arms and legs
  • Weakness, fatigue
  • Fever and flu-like symptoms, including fever, muscle aches, headache, ear pain, cough, and chills
  • Numbness, tingling or burning sensation on the skin, pain in hands or feet, dizziness, tremor, decreased appetite, altered taste
  • Increased pain, increased tumor size, or increased redness around the tumor
  • Weight loss
  • Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn
  • Low blood levels of potassium, calcium, and/or sodium
  • Underactive thyroid
  • Leg pain (which could be a symptom of a blood clot), chest pain or shortness of breath (which may be symptoms of blood clots in the lungs or pulmonary embolism)
  • All types of infections, including sinus infections, lung infections, and upper respiratory tract infections
  • Shortness of breath
  • Blurred or reduced vision
  • Clouding of the eye (cataract)
  • Kidney problems
  • Abnormal liver test results
  • Increased liver enzyme values
  • Changes in blood protein that can cause blood vessel inflammation (vasculitis)
  • Increased blood sugar (diabetes)
  • Decreased blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
  • Headache
  • Nosebleed
  • Dry skin
  • Depression, mood changes, sleep problems
  • Cough
  • Decreased blood pressure
  • General feeling of unwellness
  • Sore inflamed mouth, dry mouth
  • Dehydration
  • Destruction of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia)
  • Certain types of skin tumors
  • Bleeding from gums, stomach, or intestines
  • Increased blood pressure, slow, fast, or irregular heartbeat
  • Increased amount of a substance released from normal and abnormal breakdown of red blood cells
  • Increased level of a protein indicating inflammation in the body
  • Darkening of skin, skin discoloration due to subcutaneous bleeding, usually bruising, skin swelling due to extravasation, bruising
  • Increased uric acid in blood
  • Skin symptoms, red skin, cracking, scaling or peeling skin, hives
  • Increased sweating, night sweats
  • Difficulty swallowing, sore throat, difficulty speaking or voice changes
  • Runny nose
  • Significantly increased or decreased urine output or inability to control urination
  • Blood in urine
  • Shortness of breath, especially when lying down (which may be a symptom of heart failure)
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Stroke, fainting, vertigo (inner ear disorder causing a spinning sensation), temporary loss of consciousness
  • Chest pain radiating to arms, neck, jaw, back or stomach, sweating and shortness of breath, nausea or vomiting, which may be symptoms of a heart attack
  • Muscle weakness, lack of strength
  • Neck pain, chest pain
  • Chills
  • Joint swelling
  • Slowed or blocked bile flow from the liver
  • Low blood levels of phosphate or magnesium
  • Speech difficulties
  • Liver damage
  • Balance problems, difficulty moving
  • Deafness, ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Nerve pain, unpleasant, abnormal sensations, especially to touch
  • Excess iron in the body
  • Thirst
  • Confusion
  • Toothache
  • Falls that can cause injury
RARE
  • Bleeding inside the skull
  • Circulatory problems
  • Loss of vision
  • Loss of sex drive (libido)
  • High urine output with bone pain and weakness, which may be symptoms of a kidney disorder (Fanconi syndrome)
  • Yellowing of the skin, mucous membranes or eyes (jaundice), pale stools, dark urine, itchy skin, rash, stomach pain or swelling – these may be symptoms of liver damage (liver failure)
  • Stomach pain, swelling or diarrhea, which may be symptoms of large bowel inflammation (colitis or appendicitis)
  • Kidney cell damage (renal tubular necrosis)
  • Skin color changes, sensitivity to sunlight
  • Tumor lysis syndrome – metabolic complications that may occur during cancer treatment and sometimes without it, including changes in blood chemistry (e.g., increased potassium, phosphorus, uric acid, and decreased calcium), which can lead to kidney and heart rhythm problems, seizures, and sometimes death.
  • Increased blood pressure inside blood vessels supplying the lungs (pulmonary hypertension).
  • Sudden or mild but worsening upper abdominal and/or back pain that lasts for several days and may be associated with nausea, vomiting, fever, and a rapid heart rate. These symptoms may be caused by pancreatitis.
  • Wheezing, shortness of breath or dry cough, which may be symptoms of lung tissue inflammation
  • Muscle breakdown (muscle pain, weakness or swelling) that can lead to kidney problems (rhabdomyolysis) has been observed in rare cases, some of which occurred when lenalidomide was given together with a statin (a cholesterol-lowering medicine).
  • Skin disease caused by inflammation of small blood vessels, associated with joint pain and fever (leukocytoclastic vasculitis)
  • Breakdown of the stomach or intestinal wall. This can lead to very serious infection. Tell your doctor if you experience severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea, vomiting, bloody stools, or changes in bowel habits.
  • Viral infections, including shingles (a viral infection causing a painful blistering rash) and recurrence of hepatitis B infection (which can cause yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes, dark brown urine, right-sided abdominal pain, fever, nausea or vomiting).
  • Rejection of a solid organ transplant (such as a kidney or heart).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Lenalidomide Avansor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you might be pregnant, as it is expected to harm the unborn baby.
  • You are at higher risk of blood clots during treatment, especially if you have had them before.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience severe skin reactions like widespread rash, high fever, flu-like symptoms, swelling of eyes, mouth, face, or difficulty breathing, as these can be signs of serious allergic reactions.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you notice blurred vision, loss of sight, difficulty speaking, weakness in limbs, balance problems, numbness, memory loss, or confusion, as these could be signs of a serious brain condition (PML).
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy, tired, sleepy, experience vertigo, or have blurred vision after taking this medicine.
