How to Use

Dosage

Take one 15 mg or 30 mg capsule once a day, as directed by your doctor.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with water, at least 30 minutes before food. Do not crush or chew it.

Important

Do not take more than 60 mg in a single day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation, gas, dry or sore mouth/throat, small growths in the stomach (benign polyps)
  • Changes in liver test results
  • Rash, itching
  • Feeling tired
RARE
  • Changes in blood cell counts
  • Feeling down (depression)
  • Muscle or joint pain
  • Swelling due to fluid buildup
  • Anemia (looking pale)
  • Trouble sleeping, seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), feeling confused
  • Feeling restless, spinning sensation (vertigo), tingling or numbness (pins and needles), drowsiness, shaking
  • Vision problems
  • Swelling of the tongue, fungal infections (e.g., thrush), inflammation of the pancreas, changes in taste
  • Liver inflammation (skin or eyes may turn yellow)
  • Skin reactions like a burning or prickling feeling under the skin, bruising, redness, hair loss, sensitivity to sunlight
  • Kidney problems
  • Enlarged breasts in men
  • Fever, too much sweating, allergic swelling (angioedema), loss of appetite, impotence
  • Very low white blood cell count, making you prone to infections
  • Colon inflammation (colitis), mouth inflammation (stomatitis)
  • Very severe skin reactions with redness, blisters, severe inflammation, and skin peeling
  • Severe allergic reactions, including shock
  • Changes in certain lab test values (e.g., sodium, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels)
  • Low magnesium levels in your blood
  • Low sodium levels in your blood
  • Seeing things that are not there (visual hallucinations)
  • Rash with possible joint pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Lanvone if you are allergic to lansoprazole or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have serious liver problems, as your dose might need to be changed.
  • Contact your doctor right away if you get severe watery diarrhea during Lanvone treatment.
  • Taking Lanvone for a long time may slightly increase your risk of bone fractures. Tell your doctor if you have weak bones (osteoporosis) or are at risk.
  • Lanvone can cause kidney inflammation. Tell your doctor if you notice less urine, blood in your urine, fever, rash, or joint pain.

  • Long-term use of Lanvone might reduce vitamin B12 absorption. Talk to your doctor if you have low B12 levels or factors that put you at risk.
  • Stop taking Lanvone and get medical help right away if you develop severe skin reactions like a spreading rash, blisters, peeling skin, or flu-like symptoms.
  • Lanvone capsules should not be given to children.
