How to Use

Dosage

Usually one 15 mg or 30 mg capsule once a day, but your doctor will tell you the exact dose.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water at least 30 minutes before breakfast. Do not crush or chew it. If you take it twice a day, take one dose in the morning and one in the evening.

Important

The maximum daily dose can be up to 60 mg, but always follow your doctor's instructions.

  • Liver inflammation (may cause yellowing of skin or eyes)
  • Male breast enlargement, impotence
  • Yeast infection (fungal infection of skin or mucous membranes)
  • Swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, or breathing problems (angioedema)
  • Severe allergic reactions, including shock, with symptoms like fever, rash, swelling, and sometimes low blood pressure
  • Mouth inflammation (stomatitis)
  • Intestinal inflammation (colitis)
  • Changes in certain lab values (e.g., sodium, cholesterol, triglyceride levels)
  • Very severe skin reactions with redness, blistering, severe inflammation, and skin peeling
  • Decreased white blood cell count (which weakens immunity to infections)
  • Low magnesium levels in the blood (fatigue, involuntary muscle movements, confusion, convulsions, dizziness, increased heart rate)
  • Low sodium levels in the blood (nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, fatigue, confusion, muscle weakness or cramps, irritability, seizures, coma)
  • Lupus-like skin reactions or butterfly rash, possibly with joint pain
  • Visual hallucinations

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to lansoprazole or any of its other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a severe liver disease.
  • If you get severe or persistent diarrhea while taking this medicine, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Tell your doctor if you have low vitamin B12 levels or are at risk of having them, especially if you take this medicine for a long time.
  • Long-term use of this medicine (over one year) may slightly increase the risk of bone fractures.

  • If you develop a rash, especially in areas exposed to sunlight, contact your doctor as soon as possible to discuss if you need to stop treatment.
  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical attention if you develop severe skin reactions like red patches, blisters, peeling skin, or sores in your mouth, throat, nose, genitals, or eyes. These can be serious (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
  • If you notice a decrease in urine, blood in your urine, fever, rash, or joint pain, tell your doctor as these can be signs of kidney inflammation.
  • If you use this medicine for more than three months, your blood magnesium levels may decrease, causing symptoms like fatigue, muscle spasms, confusion, dizziness, or a fast heartbeat. Contact your doctor if you experience these.
  • Low sodium levels in your blood can cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, fatigue, confusion, muscle weakness or cramps, or seizures. Contact your doctor if you experience these.
