How to Use

Dosage

One injection is given every 28 days. Your doctor will decide the correct dose (60 mg, 90 mg, or 120 mg).

Method

This medicine is given as a deep injection under the skin. A healthcare professional or a trained person will usually give it in your buttocks or thigh.

Important

The maximum single dose is 120 mg, given every 28 days. It is not a daily medication.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea, soft stools, or stomach pain.
  • Gallstones or other gallbladder problems, with possible symptoms like severe abdominal pain, fever, yellow skin/eyes, loss of appetite, chills, or itching.
  • Weight loss, lack of energy, tiredness, general weakness, or decreased appetite.
  • Slow heart rate.
  • Fatty stools.
  • Dizziness or headache.
  • Hair loss or reduced hair growth.
  • Pain in muscles, ligaments, tendons, or bones.
  • Reactions at the injection site, such as pain, hardened skin, or itching.
  • Abnormal liver or pancreas test results, or changes in blood sugar levels.
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation, gas, abdominal bloating or discomfort, or other digestive problems.
  • Dilation of bile ducts (passages between the liver, gallbladder, and intestines), possibly with symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, jaundice, or fever.
RARE
  • Hot flashes.
  • Difficulty sleeping.
  • Changes in stool color.
  • Changes in blood sodium or alkaline phosphatase levels (seen in blood tests).
  • Sudden, severe lower abdominal pain (could be a sign of pancreas inflammation).
  • Redness, pain, warmth, swelling, or fluid at the injection site, with fever (could be a sign of an abscess).
  • Sudden, severe pain in the upper right or middle abdomen that may spread to the shoulder or back, with abdominal tenderness, nausea, vomiting, or high fever (could be a sign of gallbladder inflammation).
  • Pain in the upper right abdomen, fever, chills, yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), nausea, vomiting, clay-colored stools, dark urine, or fatigue (could be a sign of bile duct inflammation).
  • Decreased pancreatic enzymes (which can lead to digestive issues like fatty stools, loose stools, abdominal bloating, or weight loss).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Lanreotid Zentiva if you are allergic to the active substance lanreotide or any other ingredient.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, as this medicine can affect your blood sugar or cause blood sugar changes.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had gallstones, as this medicine can cause gallstones to form.
  • Tell your doctor if you have thyroid problems, as this medicine may slightly reduce its function.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, as this medicine can slow down your heart rate.
