How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the exact dose (60, 90, or 120 mg). Usually, you will get one injection every 28 days. In some cases, for 120 mg, it might be every 42 or 56 days.

Method

This medicine is given as a deep injection under your skin. A healthcare professional, a trained family member/friend, or you yourself can give the injection. The injection site should be alternated (e.g., upper outer thigh or upper outer buttock), avoiding moles, scars, or red/uneven skin.

The highest dose given at one time is 120 mg, typically every 28 days, but sometimes longer intervals (42 or 56 days) for 120 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea, loose stools, stomach pain
  • Gallstones and other gallbladder problems, with symptoms like severe stomach pain, high fever, yellow skin/eyes, loss of appetite, chills, itching
  • Weight loss

RARE
  • Hot flashes
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Change in stool color
  • Changes in sodium and alkaline phosphatase levels in blood tests

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to lanreotide or similar drugs.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, gallstones, thyroid issues, or heart problems, as this medicine can affect these conditions.
  • Contact your doctor right away if you get very thirsty, tired, dry mouth (high blood sugar), hungry, shaky, sweaty, confused (low blood sugar), facial swelling, rash, chest tightness, breathing issues, feeling faint (allergic reaction), or unusual fatty/loose stools, bloating, or weight loss.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children or teenagers.
  • You might feel dizzy while using this medicine, so be careful when driving or operating machinery.
