How to Use

Dosage

You will receive one injection every 28 days. Your doctor will decide the correct strength for you (60, 90, or 120 mg).

Method

This medicine is given as a deep injection under the skin.

Important

The maximum dose is one injection per period, as prescribed by your doctor (e.g., every 28, 42, or 56 days).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea, soft stools, stomach pain.
  • Gallstones or other gallbladder problems. This can cause severe stomach pain, fever, yellow skin/eyes, loss of appetite, chills, and itching.
  • Weight loss, lack of energy, slow heart rate, feeling very tired, reduced appetite, general weakness.
  • Fatty stools, dizziness, headache, hair loss or thinning hair.
  • Pain in muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones.
  • Reactions at the injection site, like pain, hardened skin, or itching.
  • Abnormal liver and pancreas test results, and changes in blood sugar levels.
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation, gas, swollen stomach, stomach upset, or digestion problems.
  • Widening of bile ducts (leading to stomach pain, nausea, yellow skin/eyes, and fever).
RARE
  • Hot flashes, trouble sleeping, changes in the color of your stools.
  • Changes in sodium and alkaline phosphatase levels in blood tests.
  • Sudden, severe lower stomach pain (a sign of pancreatitis).
  • Redness, pain, warmth, swelling, and pus or fever at the injection site (a sign of an abscess).
  • Sudden, severe pain in your upper right or middle stomach that may spread to your shoulder or back, tenderness, nausea, vomiting, and high fever (signs of gallbladder inflammation).
  • Upper right stomach pain, fever, chills, yellow skin/eyes, nausea, vomiting, clay-colored stools, dark urine, and tiredness (signs of bile duct inflammation).
  • Reduced pancreatic enzymes, which can cause fatty or loose stools, a bloated stomach, or weight loss.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Lanreotid SUN if you are allergic to lanreotide, similar medicines, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • If you have diabetes, Lanreotid SUN can change your blood sugar levels. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication.
  • If you have gallstones, Lanreotid SUN might cause more gallstones to form. Your doctor may check you regularly.
  • If you have thyroid problems, Lanreotid SUN can slightly reduce how well your thyroid gland works.
  • If you have heart problems, Lanreotid SUN might slow down your heart rate, especially when you start treatment.
