How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children over 13 years, the usual dose is 100–400 mg daily. For children aged 2–12 years, the dose depends on weight, up to a maximum of 200 mg daily.

Method

Take your dose once or twice a day as your doctor prescribes, with or without food. You can swallow the tablet whole with a small amount of water or dissolve it in water. Always take the full dose your doctor prescribed.

Important

Never take more than your doctor has prescribed, up to a maximum of 400 mg daily for adults and up to 200 mg daily for children aged 2-12 years.

RARE
  • Clumsiness or balance problems
  • Double vision or blurred vision
  • Unusual hair loss
  • Rash or sensitive skin to sunlight
  • Fever, headache, nausea, stiff neck, and light sensitivity (signs of meningitis)
  • Jerky eye movements
  • Itchy, watery eyes
  • Severe, life-threatening skin reactions (e.g., blisters, skin peeling)
  • High fever
  • Facial swelling or swollen glands in the neck, armpits, or groin
  • Changes in liver function or liver damage
  • Increased bleeding or easy bruising
  • Changes in blood counts (e.g., decrease in red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets)
  • Hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not there)
  • Confusion
  • Unsteady or wobbly feeling when moving
  • Uncontrolled body or eye movements, twitching, shaking, or stiffness
  • Seizures may become more frequent or worse for people with epilepsy
  • Parkinson's disease symptoms may worsen
  • Lupus-like symptoms (such as joint pain, fever)
  • Weakening of bones or fractures
  • Kidney or eye inflammation
  • Nightmares
  • Weakened immune system against infections
  • Red bumps or patches on the skin

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to lamotrigine or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • This medicine can cause severe skin reactions that can be life-threatening. If you get a rash, fever, facial swelling, sores in your mouth or throat, red eyes, or other severe symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.
  • A rare, severe immune system reaction (HLH) can occur. Contact your doctor if you have fever, rash, or neurological symptoms (like tremors or confusion).
  • Some patients have had suicidal thoughts while using this medicine. If you have such thoughts, contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have Brugada syndrome or other heart problems, tell your doctor, as the medicine can affect heart function.

  • If you get a rash or sunburn easily while taking this medicine, avoid the sun and use sun protection.
  • This medicine can cause confusion and blurred vision. Do not drive or use machines if you are unsure how the medicine affects you.
