How to Use

Dosage

For adults and children 13 years and older, the usual dose is between 100 mg and 400 mg daily. For children aged 2-12 years, the dose depends on their weight, typically 1 mg to 15 mg per kg body weight, up to 200 mg daily.

Method

Take your dose once or twice a day, as your doctor tells you. You can take it with or without food. Always take the whole tablet, do not break it. You can swallow the dispersible tablet whole with a little water, or mix it with water to make a liquid medicine.

Important

For adults, the maximum daily dose is 400 mg. For children aged 2-12 years, the maximum daily dose is 200 mg.

  • Meningitis-like symptoms (fever, headache, stiff neck, sensitivity to light, nausea, vomiting)
  • Fast, uncontrolled eye movements
  • Itchy, watery eyes with crusty eyelids
  • High fever
  • Swelling of the face or glands (in neck, armpits, groin)
  • Liver problems or changes in blood tests
  • Serious blood clotting problems that cause unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Severe immune system reaction (HLH)
  • Changes in blood counts (like fewer red or white blood cells, or platelets)
  • Seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations)
  • Confusion
  • Unsteady when walking
  • Uncontrolled body movements, sounds, or words (tics, choreoathetosis)
  • More frequent seizures (for people with epilepsy)
  • Worsening Parkinson's disease symptoms
  • Lupus-like reactions (pain in back/joints, fever, feeling unwell)
  • Bone problems (like weak bones or fractures)
  • Kidney or kidney and eye inflammation
  • Nightmares
  • Weakened immune system
  • Red lumps or patches on the skin

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to lamotrigine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • This medicine can cause serious skin rashes that can be life-threatening. If you get a rash, fever, or swollen glands, contact your doctor right away.
  • In rare cases, this medicine can cause a severe immune system reaction (HLH). If you get a fever, rash, or nerve problems (like shaking or confusion), contact your doctor immediately.
  • Some people taking this medicine have had thoughts of harming themselves or suicide. If you have these thoughts, contact your doctor right away.
  • If you have epilepsy, your seizures might get worse or happen more often while taking this medicine. If this happens, contact your doctor as soon as possible.

  • Tell your doctor if you have Brugada syndrome or other heart problems, as this medicine can affect your heart rhythm.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine. Do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor, especially if you have epilepsy.
  • This medicine can make you feel confused or see double. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
