Lamotrigin Orion is a medicine used to treat epilepsy by stopping seizures and to help prevent depressive episodes in bipolar disorder.
For adults and children over 13 years old, the usual effective dose is between 100 mg and 400 mg per day. For children aged 2-12 years, the dose depends on their weight, typically 1-15 mg per kg per day, up to a maximum of 200 mg daily. Not recommended for children under 2 years old.
Take your dose once or twice a day, with or without food, as directed by your doctor. You can swallow the dispersible tablet whole with a small amount of water, chew it, or dissolve it in water. If you chew it, drink some water to help it dissolve and ensure you swallow all the medicine. To dissolve, place the tablet in a glass with enough water to cover it, stir until dissolved, and drink all the liquid, adding a little more water to the glass to make sure you get all the medicine.
Never take more Lamotrigin Orion than your doctor tells you. The usual maximum for adults and children over 13 is 400 mg daily. For children aged 2-12, the maximum daily dose is 200 mg.
