This medicine helps treat serious lung infections in people with cystic fibrosis, especially those caused by a specific type of germ called Pseudomonas aeruginosa. You take it by breathing it in.
Adults and children 2 years and older usually take 1-2 million units, 2 or 3 times a day. Children under 2 years usually take 0.5-1 million units, twice a day. Your doctor will tell you your exact dose.
You breathe this medicine into your lungs using a special machine called a nebuliser. Sit up straight and breathe normally while you use it.
The most you can take in one day is 6 million units for adults and children 2 years and older. For children under 2 years, the most is 2 million units.
