How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 1-3 tablets per day.

Method

Take the tablets with enough liquid, such as a glass of water, always at the same time each day for a steady effect.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 8 tablets.

RARE
  • Increased appetite and weight gain
  • Changes in blood sugar levels
  • Feeling depressed, confused, very happy (mania), or having changes in behavior
  • Seizures (convulsions)
  • Glaucoma (eye pressure problem) starting or getting worse
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Irregular heart rhythm, changes in heart conduction, high blood pressure, dizziness
  • Sour taste in mouth, mouth inflammation, vomiting, nausea, intestinal blockage
  • Yellow skin (jaundice), liver inflammation (hepatitis), rash
  • Skin being very sensitive to light
  • Difficulty urinating, not being able to hold urine (incontinence), or changes in sexual desire and ability
  • Changes in blood cell counts
  • Loss of appetite and weight loss
  • Sweating and high body temperature
  • Headache and feeling drowsy
  • Feeling restless or agitated, shaking (tremor)
  • Seeing or hearing things that are not there (hallucinations)
  • Dry eyes

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to amitriptyline, chlordiazepoxide, or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), a specific adrenal tumor, severe breathing problems during sleep (sleep apnea), severe lung or liver problems, a recent heart attack, certain heart conduction problems, or untreated glaucoma.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are taking other antidepressants called MAO inhibitors.
  • Do not use this medicine with alcohol, sleeping pills, or strong pain relievers, as it can be very dangerous.
  • This medicine is not for children or teenagers under 18 years old.

  • Stop taking this medicine and get medical help right away if you get a widespread rash, fever, and swollen glands (signs of DRESS syndrome).
  • Using this medicine with certain other antidepressants or strong pain relievers (opioids) can cause a serious and life-threatening condition called serotonin syndrome. Also, using it with opioids increases the risk of being very sleepy, having trouble breathing, and going into a coma.
  • This medicine can cause a heart problem called 'prolonged QT interval' and irregular heartbeats. Tell your doctor if you have a slow heart rate, heart failure, take other medicines that can cause heart problems, or have low potassium or magnesium levels in your blood.
  • If you are depressed, you might sometimes have thoughts of harming yourself or ending your life. These thoughts can become stronger when you first start taking antidepressants. If you have such thoughts, contact a doctor or go to a hospital right away.
