How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults and children over 12 is one 500 mg tablet once a day for 6-14 days.

Method

Take the tablet whole with food, do not chew it. Take your dose at the same time each day.

Important

For severe infections, the maximum daily dose can be two 500 mg tablets (1000 mg), taken at the same time.

  • Weakness, chest pain, facial swelling, general discomfort, pain, thirst
  • Changes in heart rhythm, abnormal heart readings
  • Asthma, shortness of breath
  • Nosebleed
  • Constipation, rectal pain, dry mouth, gas, belching, flatulence
  • Heartburn, stomach inflammation, mouth inflammation, tongue inflammation
  • Muscle pain, muscle cramps
  • Chills, tiredness, fever

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Klacid OD if you are allergic to clarithromycin, other macrolide antibiotics (like erythromycin or azithromycin), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe or prolonged diarrhea during or after taking Klacid OD.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems or take medicines that can cause serious heart rhythm issues.
  • Inform your doctor if you have severe liver or kidney problems, as your dose might need to be adjusted.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Reduce the dose in renal or hepatic impairment. Risk of QT prolongation. Consider potential significant interactions. (updated 6.11.2023)
