How to Use

Dosage

The dosage will be determined by your doctor and depends on your illness and needs.

Method

Take the tablets once at bedtime or twice a day.

Important

The usual dose is between 150 mg and 800 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness (may lead to falls), headache, dry mouth
  • Drowsiness (may go away with continued Ketipinor use) (may lead to falls)
  • Rapid pulse
  • Increased appetite
RARE
  • Seizures
  • Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
  • Long-lasting and painful erection (priapism)
  • Blood clots in the veins, especially in the legs (symptoms include swelling, pain, and redness in the legs)

Important Warnings

  • Tell your doctor if you have depression or are being treated with antidepressants. Taking these medicines with Ketipinor can cause serotonin syndrome, a life-threatening condition.
  • Ketipinor may cause weight gain, so you and your doctor should monitor your weight regularly.
  • Do not use Ketipinor if you are under 18 years old.
  • Avoid drinking grapefruit juice during Ketipinor treatment, as it can affect how the medicine works.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Sedative. For treatment of psychosis only. Inappropriate as a hypnotic. Increases the risk of cardiovascular events, QT prolongation and orthostatic hypotension. Increases risk of falls, extrapyramidal symptoms and cognitive impairment. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 15.1.2024)
