How to Use

Dosage

Typically 8 mg once daily, but your doctor may adjust it based on your blood pressure response.

Method

Take with or without food, swallow the tablet whole with water. Try to take it at the same time each day. The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 32 mg once daily, as prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or a spinning sensation when standing still
  • Headache
  • Respiratory tract infection
  • Low blood pressure, which may make you feel weak or dizzy
  • Increased potassium in your blood (may cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, or tingling in hands/feet)
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat, which may cause difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Increased infections causing fever, severe chills, sore throat, mouth sores, or productive cough (due to low white blood cell count)
  • Abnormal liver function (may cause nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, general unwellness, fever, itching, yellowing of skin/eyes, pale stools, or dark urine)
  • Worsening kidney function (may cause reduced or no urine production, cloudy or bloody urine, painful urination, or lower back pain)
  • Skin rash or bumpy rash (hives)
  • Itching
  • Cough
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain
  • Nausea
  • Changes in blood test results (like low sodium or high liver enzymes)
  • Swelling in the intestines (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea)
  • Diarrhea

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease or bile duct blockage (problems with bile draining from the gallbladder).
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant, as it can cause serious harm to your baby.
  • Do not give to children under 1 year of age due to potential harm to developing kidneys.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or impaired kidney function and are being treated with a blood pressure lowering medicine containing aliskiren.

  • Do not stop taking Kandrozid without talking to your doctor first, as your blood pressure may rise again.
  • This medicine can make you feel tired or dizzy. If this happens, do not drive or use any tools or machines.
