How to Use

Dosage

For high blood pressure, the usual starting dose is 8 mg once daily. For heart failure, the usual starting dose is 4 mg once daily. Your doctor will adjust your dose.

Method

Take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you. Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food, at the same time each day to help you remember. The tablet can be divided.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 32 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Headache
  • Respiratory infection
  • Low blood pressure (may cause weakness and dizziness)
  • High potassium in blood (tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, tingling in hands or feet)
RARE
  • Skin rash, hives
  • Itching
  • Cough
  • Back, joint, or muscle pain
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (including from intestinal angioedema)
  • Changes in blood test results (e.g., low sodium, high liver enzymes)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant or if you are breastfeeding.
  • Avoid use if you have severe liver problems, bile duct blockage, or if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren.
  • If you feel tired or dizzy, do not drive or operate machinery.
  • Kandrozid should not be given to children under 1 year of age.
