Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Nausea

- •Severe diarrhea
- •Dehydration (fluid loss) due to diarrhea
- •Inflammation of the mouth or gut lining (can be life-threatening)
- •Reduced number of blood cells (can be life-threatening)
- •Redness and swelling on palms or soles, possibly leading to skin peeling (hand-foot syndrome)
RARE
- •Severe allergic reaction (sudden itchy rash, swelling of hands, feet, face, or throat, difficulty breathing, feeling faint). Seek urgent medical help.
- •Fever
- •Increased seizures in people with epilepsy
- •Depression
- •Agitation (restlessness)
- •Gastrointestinal problems (stomach or gut issues)
- •Sleep problems (insomnia)
- •Increased ammonia levels in the blood
Important Warnings
- Do not use if you are allergic to calcium folinate or any other ingredients in this medicine.
- Do not use if you have anemia caused by a lack of vitamin B12 (like pernicious anemia or megaloblastic anemia).
- Tell your doctor if you are receiving 5-fluorouracil, especially if you are elderly or unwell, as this medicine can increase its side effects like infections, mouth sores, or severe diarrhea.
- Tell your doctor if you have epilepsy and take anti-epileptic medicines, as this medicine may increase your seizures.
- Do not use if you have large red blood cells (macrocytosis) caused by other cancer medicines.
