Jadelle implants are small devices placed under your skin that continuously release a hormone to prevent pregnancy for up to five years.
Two small, flexible implants (each containing 75 mg levonorgestrel) are placed under the skin of your upper arm to continuously release a hormone that prevents pregnancy.
A doctor inserts the implants under the skin of your upper arm through a small cut after numbing the area. The procedure is usually done on your non-dominant arm.
The implants work for up to 5 years. They must be removed after 5 years, or sooner if you weigh more than 60 kg, or wish to become pregnant.
