How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your exact dose based on your weight or height.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth as a single dose with water on an empty stomach. For children under 6 years, tablets must be crushed. Do not eat for 2 hours before or after taking the medicine.

Important

Take all prescribed tablets at once. For scabies, a second dose may be given after 8-15 days, and for filariasis, after 6-12 months.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Unusual weakness, loss of appetite, stomach pain, constipation or diarrhea, nausea or vomiting.
  • Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, muscle pain, joint pain, fever, sweating, chills.
  • Cough, sore throat, breathing discomfort, low blood pressure (may cause dizziness or fainting when standing up), itching (may worsen at the start of treatment).
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction: sudden fever, rash, breathing difficulties. Seek immediate medical help.
  • Severe skin reactions: reddish patches, blisters, peeling skin, or sores in the mouth, nose, genitals, or eyes. Seek immediate medical help.
  • Liver disease (acute hepatitis), changes in blood tests (liver enzymes, bilirubin, white blood cells), blood in urine.
  • Decreased consciousness (including coma), abnormal brain function, neck or back pain, confusion, drowsiness, difficulty standing or walking, urinary or fecal incontinence.
  • Bleeding in the white of the eyes (red eye), vision changes or other eye problems (infection, redness, swelling), fast heartbeat, worsened asthma.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to ivermectin or any other ingredient. An allergic reaction may cause rash, breathing difficulties, or fever.
  • Do not use if you have had severe skin reactions, such as rash, peeling skin, or blisters, after taking ivermectin.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a weak immune system, live in or have traveled to areas in Africa with 'Loa loa' eye worm infections, or if you are also taking diethylcarbamazine citrate for Onchocerca volvulus worm.
  • Stop taking the medicine immediately and seek medical help if you develop severe skin reactions, such as reddish patches, blisters, peeling skin, or sores in the mouth, nose, genitals, or eyes.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before use. Your doctor will decide if the medicine is safe for you.

  • This medicine may cause dizziness, drowsiness, tremors, or spinning sensation. Do not drive or use machines if you experience these symptoms.
  • The safety of this medicine in children weighing less than 15 kg is not known.
