How to Use

Dosage

The treatment is a single dose. Your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take based on your condition, weight, or height.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth with water on an empty stomach. For children under 6 years, tablets should be crushed before swallowing.

Important

Do not eat anything for two hours before or after taking the tablets, as food may affect how the medicine is absorbed.

  • Reddish, flat, target-like spots on the body, often with blisters in the middle

  • Changes in lab test results (e.g., increased liver enzymes, bilirubin, or white blood cells called eosinophils)
  • Blood in urine
  • Decreased consciousness, including coma

  • Bleeding in the whites of the eyes (red eyes)

  • Urinary or fecal incontinence
  • Difficulty standing or walking
  • Changes in mental state
  • Confusion
  • Unresponsiveness to others or falling into a coma
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Swelling, especially in hands, ankles, or feet
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Fatigue
  • Vision changes and other eye problems (like infection, redness, or unusual sensations)
  • Swollen eyelids
  • Worsened asthma

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ivermectin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away if you develop a severe skin rash, skin peeling, blisters, or sores in your mouth, throat, nose, genitals, or eyes.
  • Tell your doctor if your immune system is weak.
  • Inform your doctor if you live or have lived in Africa in areas where Loa loa (eye worm) infections are common.
  • Using this medicine with diethylcarbamazine citrate (DEC) to treat river blindness (Onchocerca volvulus) can increase the risk of serious side effects.

  • It is not known if Ivermectin Orion is safe for children weighing less than 15 kg.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning to get pregnant, or think you might be pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • After taking Ivermectin Orion, you might feel dizzy, sleepy, shaky, or lightheaded. If this happens, do not drive or use tools or machines.
