How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take based on your weight or height and the type of infection.

Method

Take the tablets orally with water on an empty stomach. For children under 6 years, tablets should be crushed before swallowing. Do not eat anything for two hours before or after taking the tablets. Take all prescribed tablets at once.

Important

Typically, only one dose is taken. Your doctor may decide to give a second dose 8-15 days later for scabies treatment, but not on the same day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling unusually weak or tired.
  • Loss of appetite, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting.
  • Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, or tremors.
  • Muscle or joint pain.
  • Fever, chills, or sweating.
  • Itching or rash (may worsen at first for scabies).
  • Low blood pressure (may cause dizziness when standing up), fast heart rate.
  • Swelling, especially of lymph nodes, hands, ankles, or feet.
  • Cough, sore throat, breathing discomfort, or worsened asthma.
  • Red eyes, changes in vision, or other eye problems (e.g., infection, redness).
  • Testicle pain or discomfort.
RARE
  • Sudden fever, severe skin rashes (like target-shaped spots, peeling skin, blisters in mouth/nose/eyes/genitals), or difficulty breathing.
  • Liver disease (acute hepatitis).
  • Significant changes in blood tests (e.g., liver enzymes, bilirubin, eosinophils).
  • Blood in urine.
  • Reduced level of consciousness or coma.
  • Abnormal brain function, neck or back pain, loss of bladder/bowel control, difficulty standing/walking, changes in mental state, confusion, unresponsiveness, or coma (especially with severe infections).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ivermectin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Stop taking and see a doctor immediately if you get a severe skin rash (e.g., target-like spots, peeling skin, blisters in mouth/nose/eyes/genitals).
  • Tell your doctor if you have a weak immune system.
  • Tell your doctor if you live or have traveled to areas in Africa where people have 'Loa loa' eye worm infections.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking diethylcarbamazine citrate (DEC) for Onchocerca volvulus infection, as it can increase side effects.

  • Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • This medicine can make you feel dizzy, sleepy, or cause tremors. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these symptoms.
