How to Use

Dosage

This treatment is usually a single dose, and your doctor will tell you exactly how many tablets to take based on your condition, weight, or height.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth with water on an empty stomach. If you are giving it to a child under 6, crush the tablets first. Do not eat for two hours before or after taking the medicine.

Important

The maximum dose you should take on any given day is the single dose prescribed by your doctor; for some conditions, a second single dose may be prescribed after 8-15 days, or the treatment repeated after 6 or 12 months.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling unusually tired or weak
  • Loss of appetite, stomach pain, constipation or diarrhea, nausea or vomiting
  • Feeling sleepy, dizzy, lightheaded, or shaking
  • Sweating, fever, or headache
  • Muscle pain, joint pain, or widespread body aches
  • Cough, sore throat, or feeling uncomfortable when breathing
  • Low blood pressure (feeling dizzy or faint when standing up)
  • Chills, swollen lymph nodes, or swelling in hands, ankles, or feet
  • Itching or skin rash (itching may get worse at the start of scabies treatment, but usually doesn't last long)
  • Fast heartbeat, pain or discomfort in testicles, changes in vision, eye infection, redness or swollen eyelids
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions (sudden fever, serious skin rash, trouble breathing)
  • Very serious skin conditions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome (red, target-like spots with blisters, skin peeling, sores in mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and eyes)
  • Liver problems (acute hepatitis), changes in blood tests, or blood in your urine
  • Decreased consciousness, falling into a coma, abnormal brain function, confusion, or changes in your mental state
  • Severe neck or back pain, bleeding in the whites of the eyes, shortness of breath, difficulty standing or walking, or loss of bladder or bowel control

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to ivermectin or any other ingredients, as this can cause rash, breathing problems, or fever.
  • Stop taking the medicine and see a doctor right away if you develop a severe skin rash, blistering, or skin peeling, especially if you have taken ivermectin before.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have a weak immune system (an immune disease).
  • If you live or have lived in areas of Africa where people get Loa loa worm infections (also known as “eye worm”), tell your doctor.
  • It is not known if Ivermectin Glenmark is safe for children weighing less than 15 kg.

  • If you are pregnant, this medicine should only be used if absolutely necessary and after talking to your doctor.
  • Ivermectin passes into breast milk, so your doctor might suggest starting treatment a week after your baby is born.
  • After taking this medicine, you might feel dizzy, drowsy, shaky, or lightheaded. Do not drive or use tools or machines if you experience these symptoms.
