Isoptin retard is a medicine that helps lower high blood pressure and makes your heart beat more regularly and slowly.
Your doctor will decide your dose. Typically, the dose is 120 mg or 240 mg, taken 1–2 times a day.
Swallow the tablets whole with liquid, preferably with a meal or shortly after. Do not chew or crush them. The 240 mg tablet can be divided in half.
The maximum daily dose is usually 480 mg (two 240 mg tablets).
Avoid use in older adults. Use only in special cases. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. May exacerbate heart failure. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia, constipation, heart failure and swelling. Consider the numerous potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.2.2025)
