How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose based on your weight, age, and the part of your body being examined. The dose is usually given once, but may be repeated if needed.

Method

It is given as an injection into a vein, artery, the spinal fluid, or into a body cavity.

Important

The maximum daily dose will be determined by your doctor. If too much is given, hospital staff are equipped to handle it.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling of warmth
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • High blood pressure
  • Redness, hives, or itching
  • Pain, discomfort, or burning at the injection site
  • Back pain or limb pain
RARE
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Chest pain
  • Fainting or unconsciousness
  • Changes in heart rate (slow or fast)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Skin rash
  • Weakness, stiffness, or fever
  • Increased creatinine in blood (a sign of kidney function change)
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., severe breathing issues, severe dizziness)
  • Restlessness, confusion, or drowsiness
  • Blood problems (e.g., anemia causing fatigue, fast heart rate)
  • Brain effects (e.g., headache, vision issues, confusion, speech problems)
  • Overactive thyroid
  • Blood vessel narrowing (causing lack of oxygen to tissues)
  • Paralysis or numbness in limbs
  • Increased sweating
  • Neck pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to jomeprol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have a severe thyroid disease.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you have allergies, asthma, or have had a bad reaction to X-ray dyes before.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a severe skin rash, peeling skin, or sores in your mouth after receiving an iodine-containing X-ray dye.
  • Get medical help right away if you develop serious skin reactions like blisters, peeling skin, or sores, as these can be life-threatening.

  • If you experience short-term brain problems (encephalopathy) during or after the imaging, tell your doctor right away. Symptoms may include headache, vision problems, confusion, or trouble with coordination.
