How to Use

Dosage

The doctor will determine your dose based on your weight, age, and the part of your body being examined.

Method

The medicine is injected into a vein, artery, spinal fluid, or body cavities.

Important

The dose is usually given once, but may be repeated if necessary, as directed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

  • Feeling of warmth
  • Headache

  • Dizziness, fainting, confusion, or problems with balance
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach pain
  • Skin reactions like redness, itching, hives, rash, or serious skin issues such as blisters or peeling
  • Pain at the injection site, chest pain, back pain, neck pain, or pain in arms/legs
  • Difficulty breathing, asthma-like symptoms, cough, or hoarseness
  • Irregular heartbeat (too slow or too fast)
  • General feelings of weakness, stiffness, fever, tiredness, coldness, thirst, or restlessness
  • Temporary blindness or other changes in vision
  • Overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
  • Changes in kidney, liver, or other blood test results
  • Severe allergic reaction causing severe breathing problems, dizziness, or swelling of face, lips, or throat
  • Seizures, paralysis, speech difficulties, loss of consciousness, memory loss, numbness, or tingling

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to Iomeron or any of its ingredients, or if you have a severe thyroid disease. Spinal injections should not be immediately repeated.
  • Tell your doctor if you have allergies, asthma, or have reacted to contrast media before. Also mention if you've had severe skin reactions to iodine contrast previously or if you are taking beta-blockers.
  • A short-term brain disorder (encephalopathy) may occur during or after imaging. Seek medical help immediately if you experience symptoms like headache, vision problems, or confusion.
  • Maintaining fluid balance is important, especially for infants, children, and the elderly, as they might be more sensitive to side effects.
  • Thyroid problems can occur after Iomeron use, and newborns may be affected if their mother used it during pregnancy. Your doctor may check your thyroid function.

  • Severe skin reactions (like Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, and DRESS) have been reported. Seek medical help immediately if you notice severe rash, blistering, or skin peeling.
  • Iomeron can affect certain lab tests (e.g., iron, calcium, proteins, and thyroid function).
