How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe your dose, typically once a day. Treatment lasts at least 6 days and can continue for up to 6 months.

Method

Inject under the skin as directed by your doctor. Do not inject into a muscle or blood vessel. Always inject at the same time each day.

Important

Once daily, as prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Pain at the injection site
  • Itching at the injection site
  • Swelling at the injection site
  • Bruising at the injection site
  • General bruises
  • Skin redness
  • Anemia (low red blood cell count)
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction (angioedema) with swelling of the face, tongue, or throat
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Hives and breathing difficulties
  • Severe allergic skin reaction with blisters or sores in the mouth, eyes, or genital area
  • Changes in platelet count (increased or decreased)
  • Mild allergic reaction (hypersensitivity)
  • Temporary liver changes
  • Rashes
  • Skin inflammation
  • General itching
  • Skin necrosis (tissue death)
  • Osteoporosis (bone thinning)
  • High potassium levels in the blood
  • Painful and prolonged erection (priapism)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have an increased risk of bleeding (general or local), a bacterial heart infection, a brain bleed, or a bleeding stomach ulcer.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to tinzaparin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • If you need epidural or spinal anesthesia, stop using innohep at least 24 hours before the procedure. Do not restart treatment until 4-6 hours after the procedure.
  • Talk to your doctor before use if you have severe kidney problems, diabetes, asthma, high blood potassium levels, or a prosthetic heart valve.
  • Do not inject innohep into a muscle. Also, do not inject other medicines into a muscle at the same time to avoid bruising.

Category C
