How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the right dose. It is usually given once a day.

Method

Inject Innohep under the skin, as directed by your doctor. Do not inject it into a muscle or blood vessel. Inject at the same time each day.

Important

Take only the dose your doctor prescribes once a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Injection site reactions (pain, itching, swelling, bruising).
  • Bleeding under the skin (bruises).
  • Redness.
  • Anemia (low red blood cell count).
RARE
  • Increased or decreased number of platelets (small cells that help blood clot).
  • Hypersensitivity (allergic reactions).
  • Bruises.
  • Temporary liver effects.
  • Rashes.
  • Skin inflammation.
  • Itching.
  • Hives.
  • Skin necrosis (tissue death).
  • Osteoporosis (weakening of bones).
  • High potassium levels.
  • Painful, long-lasting erection.
  • Severe allergic reaction (angioedema) with symptoms like swelling of face, tongue, or throat; difficulty swallowing; hives and trouble breathing.
  • Severe skin reaction with blisters or sores in the mouth, eyes, or genital area.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have an increased risk of bleeding (general or local), a bacterial heart infection, bleeding in the brain, or a bleeding stomach ulcer.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to tinzaparin (the active ingredient) or any other part of this medicine.
  • If you are having an epidural or spinal anesthesia or a spinal tap, stop using Innohep at least 24 hours before the procedure. Do not restart treatment until 4-6 hours after the procedure.
  • Do not inject Innohep into a muscle. Also, do not inject other medicines into a muscle at the same time, as this can cause bleeding under the skin.

Category C
