How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use.

Method

Inject the medicine under your skin (not into a muscle or blood vessel) once a day, always at the same time.

Important

Take one dose per day. Do not take a double dose if you forget one.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Reactions at the injection site (pain, itching, swelling, bruising)
  • Bleeding
  • Redness
  • Anemia (low red blood cells)
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, trouble swallowing, hives, and trouble breathing (these are signs of a severe allergy, contact your doctor right away)
  • Severe allergic skin reaction with blisters or sores in the mouth, eyes, or genitals (contact your doctor right away)
  • Change in platelet count (either more or less)
  • Hypersensitivity (allergic reactions)
  • Bruising
  • Temporary changes in liver function
  • Rash
  • Skin inflammation
  • Itching
  • Local skin tissue death
  • Osteoporosis (weakening of bones)
  • High potassium levels in the blood
  • Painful, long-lasting erection

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Innohep if you have a high risk of bleeding (such as from a heart infection caused by bacteria, bleeding in the brain, or a bleeding stomach ulcer) or if you are allergic to any of Innohep's ingredients.
  • If you are having a spinal or epidural procedure, you must stop Innohep 24 hours before and restart 4-6 hours after the procedure.
  • Talk to your doctor before using Innohep if you have severe kidney problems, a higher risk of bleeding, low platelet count, diabetes, asthma, high potassium levels, an artificial heart valve, or if you are elderly with kidney issues.
  • Do not inject Innohep into a muscle. Innohep contains sodium metabisulfite, which can cause severe allergic reactions and breathing problems, especially in asthma patients.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C
