How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe your dose. It is taken once a day.

Method

Inject under the skin (subcutaneously) as directed by your doctor. Never inject into a muscle or blood vessel. Take it at the same time each day.

Important

Do not take more than once a day. Do not take a double dose if you miss one.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Pain, itching, swelling, bruising, and redness at the injection site.
  • Bleeding (general).
  • Anemia (low red blood cell count).
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, tongue, or throat; difficulty swallowing; hives; and trouble breathing. These are signs of a severe allergic reaction (angioedema).
  • Severe allergic skin reaction with blisters or sores in the mouth, eyes, or other mucous membranes.
  • Increased or decreased platelet count.
  • Hypersensitivity (allergic reaction).
  • Temporary liver problems.
  • Rashes, skin inflammation, itching, hives, or local tissue death.
  • Osteoporosis (weak bones).
  • Increased potassium levels in the blood.
  • Painful, long-lasting erection.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have an increased risk of bleeding (general or local), a heart infection caused by bacteria, a brain hemorrhage, or a bleeding stomach ulcer.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to tinzaparin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • If you are having epidural or spinal anesthesia, stop using innohep at least 24 hours before and do not restart for 4-6 hours after the procedure.
  • Do not inject into a muscle. Do not inject other medicines into a muscle at the same time to avoid bruising under the skin.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe kidney problems, increased risk of bleeding, low platelet count, diabetes, asthma, high potassium levels, an artificial heart valve, or if you are elderly with kidney problems.

  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines that affect blood clotting (e.g., NSAIDs like aspirin or ibuprofen, blood thinners).
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
