Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Pain at the injection site
  • Itching at the injection site
  • Swelling at the injection site
  • Bruising at the injection site
  • Bleeding
  • Red skin
  • Anemia (low red blood cell count)
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of the face, tongue, or throat; difficulty swallowing; hives; and trouble breathing
  • Severe skin rash, often with blisters or sores in the mouth, eyes, or genital area
  • Changes in blood platelet count (increased or decreased)
  • General allergic reactions or hypersensitivity
  • Temporary liver effects
  • Skin rashes
  • Skin inflammation
  • Hives
  • Skin damage (necrosis)
  • Osteoporosis (bone weakening)
  • High potassium levels in the blood
  • Painful, long-lasting erection

Important Warnings

  • Do not use innohep if you are allergic to tinzaparin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have an increased risk of bleeding, bleeding in the brain, a bleeding stomach ulcer, or a bacterial heart infection.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe kidney problems or an artificial heart valve.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, high potassium levels in your blood, or a low platelet count.
  • If you are having a spinal tap or epidural anesthesia, you must stop innohep at least 12 hours before and not restart for 4-6 hours after the procedure.

  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other blood thinners or pain relievers (like ibuprofen or aspirin), as these can increase your bleeding risk.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using innohep.
  • Do not inject innohep into a muscle.
  • If you take too much, contact a doctor or poison control center immediately, as it can cause bleeding.
  • Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
