How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your specific dose and how long you need to take it, depending on your surgery or illness.

Method

Innohep is injected under the skin (subcutaneous injection). Do not inject into a muscle or blood vessel. Inject the medicine at the same time every day.

Important

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Reactions at the injection site (pain, itching, swelling, bruising).
  • Bleeding.
  • Skin redness.
  • Anemia (low red blood cell count).
RARE
  • Angioedema: severe allergic reaction with swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, and trouble breathing. Stop taking Innohep and contact a doctor immediately.
  • A very strong allergic skin reaction with blisters or sores in the mouth, eyes, or other mucous membranes. Stop taking Innohep and contact a doctor immediately.
  • Increased or decreased number of platelets.
  • Hypersensitivity.
  • Bruises.
  • Redness (not necessarily skin).
  • Temporary liver effects.
  • Rashes.
  • Skin inflammation.
  • Itching.
  • General allergic reactions.
  • Hives.
  • Local tissue death.
  • Osteoporosis (bone thinning).
  • Elevated potassium levels in the blood.
  • Painful, prolonged erection.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Innohep if you have an increased tendency to bleed (general or local).
  • Do not use Innohep if you have or have had a bacterial heart infection, brain hemorrhage, or a bleeding stomach ulcer.
  • Do not use Innohep if you are allergic to tinzaparin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an increased risk of bleeding or a low platelet count (thrombocytopenia).

  • Tell your doctor if you have high potassium levels in your blood.
  • Tell your doctor if you are having a spinal tap or epidural anesthesia.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an artificial heart valve.
  • Do not inject Innohep into a muscle.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C
