How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water, preferably in the morning, regardless of meals. Do not crush or chew.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one tablet (1.5 mg) per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low levels of potassium in your blood.
  • A red, raised skin rash.
  • Skin allergies, especially if you are prone to allergies or asthma.
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions like swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat causing breathing or swallowing problems (angioedema), or serious skin reactions such as widespread rash, blistering, and peeling skin (Stevens-Johnson syndrome). Seek medical help right away.
  • Irregular or life-threatening heartbeat, low blood pressure, or fainting.
  • Stomach upset like vomiting, nausea, constipation, dry mouth, inflammation of the pancreas (severe stomach/back pain), or liver problems (hepatitis, brain issues from liver disease, abnormal liver function).
  • Kidney disease (tiredness, frequent urination, itchy skin, swollen limbs), changes in blood cells (easy bruising, nosebleeds, fever, anemia), or unusual levels of calcium, sodium, chloride, or magnesium in the blood.
  • Feeling tired, headache, tingling or prickling sensations, dizziness, muscle weakness, cramps, tenderness, or pain (possibly a sign of muscle breakdown).
  • Nearsightedness, blurry or impaired vision, eye pain due to high pressure in the eye (possible glaucoma), red spots on the skin (purpura), or skin reactions to sunlight/UV light.
  • Changes in blood tests like increased uric acid (may worsen gout), high blood sugar in diabetics, or abnormal ECG readings.
  • Worsening of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
  • Erectile dysfunction (impotence).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to indapamide, similar medicines (sulfonamides), or any other ingredient in it.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney problems.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems or a brain condition caused by liver disease.
  • Do not use if your blood potassium levels are very low.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, gout, heart rhythm issues, other kidney problems, muscle problems (like pain or weakness), or if you are sensitive to sunlight.

  • Tell your doctor if you have blurry vision, eye pain, or worsening eyesight, as this could be a sign of a serious eye condition.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
