How to Use

Dosage

Adults (over 18 years): Start with 2 tablets, then 1 tablet after each loose bowel movement. Children and adolescents (12-18 years): Start with 1 tablet, then 1 tablet after each loose bowel movement.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water. Take orally.

Important

Do not take more than 4 tablets in 24 hours.

Important Warnings

  • Do not give to children under 12 years old.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to this medicine or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not use if you have a fever (over 38°C) or blood in your stool.
  • Do not use if you have an inflammatory bowel disease (e.g., ulcerative colitis).
  • Do not use if you have severe diarrhea caused by antibiotics.

  • Do not use if you have constipation or your stomach is swollen.
  • If diarrhea symptoms last longer than 2 days or get worse, stop taking the medicine and see a doctor.
  • If you have severe diarrhea, drink more fluids to replace lost water and salts.
  • If you have AIDS and your stomach is swollen, stop taking the medicine immediately and see a doctor.
  • If you have a liver disease, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • Do not take more than the recommended dose, as too much loperamide can cause serious heart problems.
  • Stop taking the medicine and seek urgent medical help if you get severe allergic reactions like swelling of face, tongue or throat, trouble swallowing, wheezing, shortness of breath, or a severe rash.
  • Stop taking the medicine and seek urgent medical help if you get severe stomach pain, back pain, tender stomach, fever, fast pulse, nausea, or vomiting, as these might be signs of pancreas inflammation.
  • Stop taking the medicine and talk to your doctor if you have trouble urinating, severe stomach pain with bloating/swelling or fever (which could mean a blocked bowel), or severe constipation.
