Imigran Radis

This medicine, Imigran Radis, contains sumatriptan and is used to treat migraine headaches. It helps by narrowing widened blood vessels in your head, which can relieve pain and other migraine symptoms.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults aged 18-65 is one 50 mg tablet. Some people may need a 100 mg tablet.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Take it as soon as your migraine starts, but you can take it at any time during an attack. If your symptoms return, you can take a second tablet after at least two hours.

Important

Do not take more than six 50 mg tablets or three 100 mg tablets in 24 hours. The maximum daily dose is 300 mg.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Rash, itchy skin (hives), wheezing, swollen eyelids, face or lips, fainting.
COMMON
  • Pain, pressure, tightness, or aching in the chest, throat, or other body parts.
  • Unusual feelings like numbness, tingling, warmth, or cold.
  • Nausea (feeling sick) or vomiting.
  • Tiredness or drowsiness.
  • Dizziness, feeling weak, hot flushes.
  • Temporary increase in blood pressure.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Muscle pain.
RARE
  • Breast pain.
  • Changes in liver function (may be seen in blood tests).
  • Seizures, tremors, muscle spasms, stiff neck.
  • Vision problems like flashes, blurred vision, double vision, temporary or permanent vision loss (these can also be caused by migraine itself).
  • Heart problems like fast or slow heartbeat, irregular heart rhythm, chest pain (angina), or heart attack.
  • Raynaud's syndrome (pale, bluish skin and/or pain in fingers, toes, ears, nose, or jaw due to cold or stress).
  • Feeling like you might faint (blood pressure may drop).
  • Pain in the lower left abdomen with bloody diarrhea (ischemic colitis).
  • Diarrhea.
  • Pain or worsening pain at the site of a recent injury or inflammation (e.g., rheumatism or bowel inflammation).
  • Joint pain.
  • Feeling anxious.
  • Difficulty swallowing.
  • Excessive sweating.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to sumatriptan or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have heart problems, such as chest pain or a history of heart attack.
  • Do not use if you have poor circulation in your legs that causes pain when walking.
  • Do not use if you have had a stroke or a mini-stroke (TIA).
  • Do not use if you have very high blood pressure, unless your doctor says it is safe and it is controlled.

  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not use with other migraine medicines like ergotamine or other triptans; wait at least 24 hours between doses.
  • Do not use if you have taken certain antidepressants (MAOIs) in the last two weeks.
  • Tell your doctor if you smoke, use nicotine replacements, are a man over 40, or a post-menopausal woman, as your heart may need to be checked.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had seizures or conditions that increase seizure risk (e.g., head injury, heavy alcohol use).
  • If you are allergic to sulfonamide antibiotics, check with your doctor or pharmacist before using.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking SSRI or SNRI antidepressants, as this medicine can cause a serious condition called serotonin syndrome.
  • Using this medicine too often can make your headaches worse; contact your doctor if this happens.
  • If you feel chest pain or tightness after taking this medicine, get immediate medical help, especially if it doesn't go away quickly.
  • This medicine is not for preventing migraine attacks.
  • Not recommended for children under 18 or adults over 65.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor. Do not breastfeed for 12 hours after taking the medicine.
  • This medicine or migraine itself can cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel sleepy.
