How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine your dose based on your needs, typically 0.5–2.0 nanograms of iloprost per kilogram of body weight per minute, adjusted during the first 2-3 days.

Method

The medicine is given as an intravenous infusion (drip) into a vein in your arm or via a central venous catheter, once a day over more than six hours.

Important

The maximum daily dose is adjusted based on individual tolerance, typically up to 2.0 nanograms of iloprost per kilogram of body weight per minute.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Facial flushing
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Sweating
RARE
  • Dizziness or spinning sensation
  • Numbness or tingling sensation
  • Fast or slow heart rate
  • Diarrhea
  • Pain, including at the infusion site
  • Stroke
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Allergic reaction (hypersensitivity)
  • Blood clot in the lung or deep veins
  • Convulsions or seizures

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to iloprost or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an increased risk of bleeding, such as stomach ulcers, injuries, or bleeding in the brain.
  • Inform your doctor if you have heart disease, such as a heart attack in the last six months, severe arrhythmia, or a weak heart.
  • This medicine can lower your blood pressure, which may cause dizziness, especially when standing up. Rise slowly.

  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially blood pressure or blood-thinning medicines, as Ilomedin can affect them.
