How to Use

Dosage

The typical dose is one 30 mg (3 ml) injection; for children, the dose depends on their body weight as prescribed by your doctor.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneous injection), usually into the stomach area.

Important

Do not take more than 3 injections within a 24-hour period.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Injection site reactions (like irritation, swelling, pain, itching, redness, burning, pressure, bruising, numbness, or a warm feeling)
RARE
  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Fever
  • Itching
  • Rash
  • Skin redness
  • Abnormal liver function tests
  • Hives (urticaria)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to icatibant or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart problems (angina) or have recently had a stroke.
  • If your HAE symptoms get worse after taking this medicine, tell your doctor right away.
  • If you have a laryngeal attack (throat swelling that makes it hard to breathe), get medical help right away after injecting yourself.
  • Do not drive or use machines if you feel tired or dizzy after a HAE attack or after taking Icatibant Fresenius.

  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine. Do not breastfeed for 12 hours after taking the medicine.
