How to Use

Dosage

Take 1–2 tablets (200–400 mg) one to three times a day.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. If you have a sensitive stomach, take the medicine with a light meal.

Important

Do not take more than 6 tablets (1200 mg) in a 24-hour period.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach problems like heartburn, upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, gas, and constipation.
  • Minor bleeding in the stomach or intestines, which can sometimes lead to anemia.
RARE
  • Stomach ulcers with possible bleeding or rupture; mouth sores; worsening of gut conditions like colitis or Crohn's disease; stomach inflammation.
  • Allergic reactions, including skin rash, itching, and asthma attacks (sometimes with low blood pressure).
  • Problems with the brain and nerves, such as headache, dizziness, trouble sleeping, feeling restless, irritable, or tired.
  • Problems with eyesight.
  • Ringing in the ears or loss of hearing.
  • Signs of kidney damage, like pain in your side or stomach, blood in your urine, and fever. Also, higher levels of uric acid and urea in your blood.
  • Infections getting worse, or signs of aseptic meningitis (stiff neck, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, confusion). See a doctor right away if you notice these.
  • Problems with blood cells (like anemia, low white blood cells, low platelets). Signs include fever, sore throat, mouth sores, flu-like symptoms, extreme tiredness, or bleeding from the nose or skin. Stop taking and call a doctor.
  • Low blood sugar levels or low sodium levels.
  • Mental health changes, such as psychotic reactions, seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), feeling confused, or depression.
  • Tingling or "pins and needles" feelings, and inflammation of the nerve that helps you see.
  • Heart problems, including a fast or fluttering heartbeat, heart failure, heart attack, swelling, and high blood pressure, especially with high doses.
  • Inflammation of blood vessels and increased blood pressure.
  • Asthma, feeling short of breath, or narrowed airways.
  • Inflammation of the esophagus or pancreas, or narrowings in the intestines. If you have severe upper stomach pain, bloody vomit, or black stools, stop taking the medicine and see a doctor.
  • Liver damage (first signs might be skin discoloration), liver failure, acute liver inflammation. More common with long-term use.
  • Kidney problems like swelling, cloudy urine, less urine, or kidney inflammation/failure. If you feel unwell or notice these signs, stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor.
  • Severe skin reactions, including rashes, redness, and blisters (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis), or hair loss.
  • In rare cases, severe skin infections and tissue problems can occur during chickenpox.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to ibuprofen or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have ever had an allergic reaction (like asthma or rash) to aspirin or other similar pain relievers (NSAIDs).
  • Do not take if you have severe liver, kidney, or heart problems.
  • Do not take this medicine during the last three months of pregnancy.
  • Do not take if you have an active stomach ulcer, bleeding in your stomach or intestines, or a history of multiple stomach ulcers or holes in your intestines.

  • Do not take if you have bleeding in your brain or any other active bleeding.
  • Do not take if you are very dehydrated (e.g., from throwing up or diarrhea).
  • Medicines like ibuprofen might slightly increase your risk of heart attack or stroke, especially with high doses. Do not take more than the recommended dose or for longer than advised.
  • Stop taking this medicine right away and call a doctor if you get signs of an allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, swelling of your face or throat, or chest pain.
  • Stop using this medicine and see a doctor right away if you get severe skin reactions like rashes, sores in your mouth, or blisters.
  • This medicine is not for children under 12 years old or teenagers weighing less than 40 kg (88 lbs).
