How to Use

Dosage

For adults and adolescents over 12 years: Take 1-2 tablets (200 mg) or ½-1 tablet (400 mg) as needed, 1-3 times a day. For children under 12, dosage is based on weight (10 mg/kg per single dose, 30 mg/kg per day); consult a doctor or pharmacist for specific child dosages.

Method

Take the tablet with a sufficient amount of liquid, like a glass of water.

Important

Do not take more than 1200 mg (e.g., six 200 mg tablets or three 400 mg tablets) in 24 hours. For children, the maximum daily dose is 30 mg/kg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Easy bruising or nosebleeds
  • Feeling tired or drowsy
  • Dizziness or headache
  • Worsened heart failure (increased swelling or shortness of breath)
  • Heartburn, upper stomach pain, nausea or diarrhea
  • Hives, skin itching or strong swelling of skin or mucous membranes
RARE
  • Confusion, nightmares, or hallucinations
  • Tingling or numbness in the skin
  • Mouth sores, stomach ulcers, or bleeding (black stools, bloody vomit)
  • Blurred vision or changes in the eyes
  • Chest pain or irregular heartbeat
  • Shortness of breath or worsened asthma
  • Severe digestive problems (like perforations or inflammation of other organs)
  • Liver or kidney problems (may cause yellow skin or upper belly pain)
  • Severe skin rashes with peeling or blisters, worsening acne or psoriasis
  • Changes in blood cells (may lead to easy bruising, nosebleeds, or infections)
  • Strong allergic reactions (like anaphylaxis, DRESS syndrome, or widespread red rash with fever)
  • Skin becomes sensitive to sunlight

Important Warnings

  • Do not use IBUMAX if you are allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin, or other similar pain relievers.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart failure, an active stomach ulcer, or a history of stomach bleeding.
  • Do not use if you are in the last three months of pregnancy.
  • Stop taking and seek immediate medical help if you experience difficulty breathing, severe swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or sudden severe stomach pain with bloody vomit or stools.
  • Stop taking and seek immediate medical help if you develop a widespread red skin rash with bumps, blisters, or peeling skin (possible severe skin reaction).

  • If you have chickenpox, avoid using this medicine as it may worsen the infection.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
