How to Use

Dosage

One 150 mg tablet once a month.

Method

Take one tablet whole with a full glass of plain water (at least 1.8 dl) in the morning on an empty stomach, at least 6 hours after your last food or drink (except water). Do not chew, crush, or let it dissolve. Remain upright (sitting or standing) for at least 60 minutes after taking it. Do not eat, drink (other than water if needed), or take other medicines for at least 60 minutes after taking it.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per month. Never take two tablets in the same week.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Heartburn, discomfort when swallowing, stomach pain, indigestion, nausea, diarrhea
  • Bone pain, muscle and joint pain, muscle cramps, stiffness in joints and limbs
  • Flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, feeling unwell, bone pain, muscle and joint pain)
  • Rash
RARE
  • Dizziness
  • Bloating and gas
  • Back pain
  • Tiredness and fatigue
  • Asthma attacks
  • Low calcium symptoms such as muscle cramps or tingling in fingers or around the mouth
  • Severe chest pain, trouble swallowing food or drink, bad nausea or vomiting, or signs of serious irritation or ulcers in the food pipe
  • Itching; swelling of face, lips, tongue, and throat with breathing difficulties (allergic reaction)
  • Persistent eye pain and inflammation
  • New pain, weakness or discomfort in the thigh, hip or groin (early signs of an unusual thigh bone fracture)
  • Duodenal inflammation (causing stomach pain)
  • Hives
  • Pain or soreness in the mouth or jaw (early sign of a serious jaw bone problem)
  • Ear pain, ear infection and/or discharge from the ear (signs of bone damage in the ear)
  • Severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction
  • Severe skin reactions

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to ibandronic acid or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have problems with your esophagus (food pipe), like narrowing or difficulty swallowing, or if you cannot stay upright (sitting or standing) for at least 60 minutes after taking the tablet.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have low calcium levels in your blood, or have had them in the past.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you get severe chest pain, severe pain when swallowing food or drink, severe nausea or vomiting, or difficulty swallowing.
  • Tell your doctor or dentist right away if you experience any pain or problems in your mouth or jaw, or new pain in your thigh, hip, or groin.

  • This medicine is not for children or teenagers under 18 years old.
