Hypotron tablets contain midodrine hydrochloride, which raises blood pressure and treats certain severe forms of low blood pressure in adults when other treatments have not helped.

How to Use

Dosage

Start by taking one 2.5 mg tablet three times a day. The dose can be gradually increased to 10 mg three times a day.

Method

Swallow the tablets with water, with or without food. The score line is for easier swallowing, not for dividing into equal doses.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 30 mg, divided evenly into three doses. The last dose should be taken at least 4 hours before bedtime.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Hypotron if you are allergic to midodrine hydrochloride or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have high blood pressure, a slow heart rate, difficulty urinating, certain heart conditions, high eye pressure (glaucoma), or poor vision due to diabetes.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have an overactive thyroid, hormonal disorders due to an adrenal gland tumor, severe kidney disease, or an enlarged prostate.
  • Do not give this medicine to children or adolescents under 18 years old.
  • Tell your doctor if your blood pressure is high when lying down, so it can be monitored. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or stop treatment.

  • Avoid taking the medicine late in the evening; take the last dose at least 4 hours before bedtime. Raising your head while sleeping can help.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a severe nervous system disorder, circulation problems, or prostate disease.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have symptoms of very high blood pressure, such as chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, headache, or blurred vision.
