How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide how much medicine you need based on your condition.

Method

This medicine is given slowly into a vein (an intravenous infusion), meaning a needle is put into your vein, and the medicine flows into your body.

Important

The maximum daily dose varies but should not exceed 8 mmol/kg for children, 16 g for adults, and 8 g for the elderly. Your doctor will determine your exact maximum dose.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Hylvastam if you are allergic to sodium bicarbonate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take Hylvastam if you have low calcium levels in your blood (hypocalcemia).
  • Do not take Hylvastam if you have low chloride levels in your blood (hypochloremia).
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had low potassium levels in your blood (hypokalemia).
  • Tell your doctor if you have fluid and salt retention.
