This medicine contains vitamin B12 (hydroxocobalamin) and is used to prevent and treat pernicious anemia or other B12 deficiencies when tablets are not enough or suitable.

How to Use

Dosage

Initial dose: 1 ampoule daily or every other day for 1-2 weeks until improvement. Maintenance dose: 1 ampoule every 1-3 months.

Method

The injection is given by a doctor or nurse into a muscle or under the skin.

Important

The maximum recommended frequency for initial treatment is one ampoule daily. Overdose is unlikely as the dose is administered by healthcare professionals.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Swelling of lips, face, or throat, difficulty swallowing and breathing, rash, itching, and redness (signs of severe allergic reaction or angioedema).
  • Irregular heartbeat (due to low potassium levels in the blood).
  • Acne rash or blisters, skin redness, hives, rash, itching.
  • Dizziness, headache, nausea, fever, chills, hot flashes.
  • Uncontrolled tremors or shaky movements in one or more body parts. Paresthesia, commonly known as "tingling," where a part of the body (typically a leg or hand) starts to tingle and feel numb or "falls asleep."
  • Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
  • Abnormal urine discoloration.
  • Impaired kidney function due to calcium deposits (oxalate nephropathy).
  • Reactions at the injection site, such as pain, swelling, hardening of tissue, or tissue damage.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to hydroxocobalamin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines, especially birth control pills (which can lower B12 levels) or antibiotics like chloramphenicol.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning a pregnancy, or think you might be pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
