How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is 15-25 mg per day, divided into 2-3 doses.

Method

Take the tablets with plenty of water, without food.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach pain.
  • Nausea.
  • Fatigue.
RARE
  • Increased risk of infections.
  • Problems controlling blood sugar.
  • Swelling (fluid retention), high blood pressure, and low potassium levels (which can cause muscle weakness).
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia).
  • Weak bones that can break easily (osteoporosis).
  • Weight gain.
  • Changes in behavior, such as feeling overly happy or excited (euphoria), losing touch with reality (psychosis), seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), confusion, or being excessively energetic.
  • Clouding of the lens in the eye (cataract) or increased eye pressure (glaucoma), blurred vision.
  • Stomach problems like upset stomach, worsening stomach ulcers, nausea, or stomach pain.
  • Skin issues like facial redness, acne, red stretch marks, small red or purple spots, bruising, excessive hair growth, or slow wound healing. These can be similar to Cushing's syndrome symptoms.
  • In premature babies: thickening of the heart muscle.
  • In children and adolescents, long-term use can affect bone development and growth.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you or your child are allergic to hydrocortisone or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Never stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as it can be very dangerous and even life-threatening.
  • If you have an infection, fever, or are under severe stress (like surgery), your doctor might need to temporarily increase your dose.
  • Tell your doctor or dentist if you are going to have surgery.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if your or your child's health gets worse, or if you have an allergic reaction (like swelling or trouble breathing).
