How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the usual dose is 15-25 mg daily, divided into two or three doses. The morning dose is usually larger.

Method

Take the tablets whole with plenty of water, without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is generally 25 mg, but your doctor will set your exact dose.

Possible Side Effects

  • Increased risk of infections
  • Problems with blood sugar control
  • Swelling and high blood pressure due to salt and water retention, and low potassium in the blood
  • Changes in blood potassium levels, leading to high alkalinity in body tissues or fluids
  • Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
  • Weak bones that can break easily (osteoporosis with spontaneous fractures)
  • Thickening of the heart muscle in premature babies
  • Weight gain
  • Intense feelings of happiness or excitement (euphoria)
  • Losing touch with reality (psychosis) with unreal sensations (hallucinations) and confusion (delirium)
  • Excessive excitement and overactivity (mania)
  • Cloudiness in the back of the eye lens (posterior subcapsular cataract)
  • Increased eye pressure (glaucoma)
  • Blurred vision
  • Stomach problems (upper abdominal pain) or worsening of existing stomach ulcers
  • Nausea
  • Stomach ache (gastritis)
  • Symptoms like Cushing's syndrome (facial redness, steroid-induced acne, red stretch marks, small red or purple spots, bruises, excessive hair growth)
  • Slowed or impaired wound healing
  • Changes in bone development and stunted growth with long-term use in children

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to hydrocortisone or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Never stop taking this medicine suddenly without your doctor's advice, as it can make you very sick.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an infection, fever, or need surgery, as your dose might need to change.
  • Inform your doctor if you are going to get vaccinated or if you experience any mental health changes.
  • Avoid grapefruit juice and licorice, and tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, as they can affect how this medicine works.
